Project Highway delivers an environment where as either an experienced or inexperienced project manager, can walk through a step by step wizard to develop a full project document & plan. Each step hand holds the user through with prompts of what to include and suggestion lists for a number of industries and general project types.

Certain questions and steps can be left out if appropriate.

It allows you to quickly and with the minimum of typing to create a project plan easily &  simply - by predominately drag & drop - phases/tasks and documentation into the plan.

The suggestion lists do not only cover tasks, but other project initiation tasks needed for a successful project, such as defining risks, business case. Etc. In fact at the end of the process – there is a Project Health Checklist that ensures that asks if you have considered every angle of the project preparation phase ready to authorise.

If all the features are used, it can create a full Project Initiation Document (PID) with a project plan (optionally including resources and costs) with a Gantt chart.

At the end, the full Project Specification document can be saved as a PDF or transferred to Word file. A PID can also be saved separately.

There are extensive list of tasks for general projects and specific lists include  IT, PRINCE2, commercial construction, house building.

Project Highway is fantastic value as it also includes fully featured project management software (Project Commander) which is fully has all the features of Microsoft Project and can read/write compatible files.

At the end of the Project Highway Wizard, you can transfer the project into Project Commander, Microsoft Project*

(*you must have these applications installed on your pc.)

If you want to save a file that can be used by someone else with other project software (PowerProject, Primavera), you can save the file as a MPX file that can be read by most project software. Alternatively task data can be saved as an Excel file.

Project Highway covers the requirements for PRINCE2 initiation of projects. PRINCE2 is a project management methodology developed by the government of the United Kingdom (UK) and used internationally, especially in information technology (IT) environments. It has developed a detailed specification of information needs to set up a project and lay the foundation for the successful project implementation.
